I have been making artwork for as long as I can remember. Growing up in my mom's pottery studio, Duck Creek Pottery, I learned at an early age how to turn clay into whatever I wanted it to be, such as pizzas, snowmen and birds. After patient instruction from my mom, around age five I was able to make discernible items and began selling my work at my mom's craft shows.
Art continued to be a very important part of my life throughout high school & college at UNC Chapel Hill. Study abroad in Florence, Italy my senior year of college gave my art a profound new dimension. I also have a passion for archaeology and graduated with a BFA in art concentrating in clay sculpture and a second major in anthropology concentrating in archaeology. I worked full time in an art gallery in Chapel Hill for four years after college and loved every minute of it!
I currently live in Durham, NC with my cats, Luna and Cleo. I was the studio director at an internationally known portrait photography studio for almost 8 years and learned a ton of invaluable info about photography and business! I was also the office manager at a soap and candle making supply company, and have had a great time incorporating candles and soaps into my clay work. I am currently the operations manager at BioSkryb Genomics, a startup single-cell amplification company with brand new cutting-edge technology, and love that we are helping progress science towards finding cures and better treatments for cancer as well as a host of other diseases and applications.
I love having a clay jewelry/sculpture, painting, apparel design, headshot, and nature photography business in my spare time and I sell my work at local shows, on Fine Art America, Etsy, and here on my website.
